E100 Race report

Image
Stage 1: The race started in the dark at 6am at The Canyons resort. The course climbed for about an hour to a trail that traversed up the valley towards Deer Valley Resort. About an hour into it I ran over some fresh dog sh!t and splattered it all over my water bottle, which was mounted on the bottom tube of my bike. After getting it all over my hands (fortunately it wasn't on the spout) I lost the bottle in another 20 minutes anyways. The rest of the stage was pretty uneventful, although heard later there was a bad accident somewhere behind me of some kind I. It wasn't anyone I know, and I think they are going to be OK. Stage 2: They didn't have any replacement bottles I could have at the aid station so I just drank a bunch of water and took off with the 1 bottle I had. It was still pretty cold out at eight in the morning so I wasn't in that much need of water anyways. The second stage started with a long and hard climb on steep dirt road and rooty, twisty...

Looks like John got 17 overall.. Out of 57ish competitors, not counting those who didn't make it. Beat the hell out of all the other Bozemanites I saw in the results. It's a shame none of you lame-o's made it out there to support or watch..

Last month, we wrote about a report that Greenpeace published in an effort to expose Kimberly-Clark for using wood fiber from British Columbia’s coastal temperate rainforests and US federal forest lands in its products. Since then, both Greenpeace and the Natural Resources Defense Council have continued a campaign to encourage the tissue company to use recycled fiber and pulp from sustainable logging operations. According to Greenpeace, Kimberly-Clark, the world’s largest manufacturer of tissue products, used 3.1 million metric tonnes of pulp from forests in 2005. Much of this pulp was harvested from ancient forests including the great northern Boreal forest. The campaign has not yet succeeded in forcing the company to adopt new sourcing practices. However, the attention generated led 650 businesses to announce (through an advertisement in the New York Times) their collective refusal to use Kimberly-Clark paper products. We strongly urge our readers to stop using these products and to...

Riding in the Crazies

Went for a nice (I think) ride in the Crazies last sunday. . .Most, if not all of the patches of snow are actually glaciers. More Pictures Here

Another nice ride at Case

Image
The weather was perfect today, so I stopped at Case after dropping Pete off at the airport (he's going to Truckee CA for two weeks) I was solo this time, so I took some video and put it together. I had to restart my computer twice, and restart Windows Movie Maker after every edit. I think somethings wrong with my computer, it's usually a hotrod. But the final result is, uh, ok.. No more of that though, I need to stop when things get to be as much of a pain in the ass as that was. More pictures in the Case Mountain album from yesterday . I wasn't about to redo the second climb in the video because of some stupid jogger, it was my fourth time up in a row and I was tired. So deal with it.

Busy Weekend

Saturday: Pothole in Connectucut. My first time climbing outside in about a year. I got worked, but came out alive and uninjured. More pictures here Friday: Case Mountain. I great place to ride bicycles. Even a few hills to make you suffer, at least make me suffer. Here's me on best turn ever, fast and banked.. More
