Went to Ski Sundown for a Brewers festival in cental connecticut. Here's a few pictures from the trip: Did that sign say Satans Kingdom? It did! We camped at Peoples State forest, which was a gift to Connecticut by the Americin Legion as a demonstration of good forest management.. Rellly pretty: misty and green. good beer out of a little mug: There was a raffle, and out of all the people there, I won a bike! We packed the bike into the back of the car and went back to camp, only to struggle with a campfire for a couple of hours and eventually give up and fashioned a lantern out of a plastic bag and a headlamp. Worked pretty well actually. Then we went for a couple of hikes on Sunday, running into a bunch of cool little critters. Some sort of tiny frog Red Backed Salamander (even though one of them isn't red, it's the same species) And my favorite, the Red Spotted Newt: This was actually after we got home, it was waiting for the guy fishing to get out of it's fishing h...

Case Mountain History Lesson..

Case Brothers, located in the Highland Park section of Manchester, Conn., was one of five successful papers mills in that town. Started in 1862 by Alfred Willard Case (1840-1925) and Albert Wells Case (1840-1908), the brothers set up a mill for washing cotton waste to make gun cotton. Around 1870, they built paper mills and manufactured paperboard, press papers, insulating boards, album board, shoe board, binder board, card middles, and jacquard cards. Case Brothers won awards at expositions in Paris (1868) and Melbourne (1880), and were acquired by Boise-Cascade in 1967.

Nice ride at Case.. we were both sorta slow, but it was good to get out because Hurricane Ernesto is supposed to get here tomorrow and make it rain all weekend.. Harford, slightly crooked "I like bikes!" Top of the slickrock climb that neither of us made or wanted to try again I'm a ghost... camera aperture was set tiny, so the shutter was a bit too long
