Let me know what you think. Particularly, how is the width in everyones browsers? I changed a bunch of things, if anyone has a problem or a suggestion please leave a comment

Wider is better

Edit: wider isn't really better.. So ignore the rest of this. Let's see if this fits, tell me if this looks good on ya'lls computers or if something doesn't work right..

Vegas

So a paper I submitted with a post-doc from Iowa got accepted to the 2007 ASME International Design Engineering Technical Conferences (IDETC) which will take place on September 4-7, 2007 , at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada . So, yeah 4 days in Vegas on UConn... Spend a day or two at Bootleg Canyon , attend the conference and present a paper comparing kinetostatic and dynamic approaches to protein potential energy minimization. (a fancy title for a fairly simple paper) shouldn't be too bad eh?

I forgot about this one, another from Mt. Tom.. I had the camera in some weird mode so I came out all blurry. Made the light look cool though..

Summer?

Image
I think we skipped straight to summer, it was 70 and wicked sunny today and 65 yesterday. I went on two rides in the last two days: Mt. Tom In Mass yesterday afternoon, and Penwoods State Park in CT today. I had something I don't normally have today, light. Pictures without blur, weird huh? I saw a wild turkey, bunch of squirrels and chipmunks, some crows and various LBBs. (little brown birds) This one is actually three pictures combined to show a better dynamic range. Yes I am a dork, but that was also a sweet spot to watch the sun set. This was the only picture from Mt. Tom I took. All of these and more can be found here. Vroom! Real dirt is fun to turn on. I think this trail may be my favorite in CT now, it had very few people (3 groups in 3 hours) and really nice trails.. Oh, and constant climbing.. 3420 feet of climbing in 3 hours. Didn't see that coming. Really nice singletrack on the side of a steep hill. Rocks, but not as many as usual. This place had some re...

Cool pictures

These are both from the same piece of fiberglass/epoxy composite. I've been working on a system that can track the positions of various points on the surface by recognizing patterns on the black and white speckle painted surface. This confusing 3-D plot shows displacement in teh vertical direction as the 3rd (Z) axis in the graph. You can see the notch on the right side as zero displacements, and the crack as the big jump in displacements.

Sure, Now it works

So ignore that weirdness with the other jesseparker dot com. Blogger decided today to switch me over for reals, so now all the history is here too.. I moved the last post I made on the other blog here, I'll just leave the other posts alone, they weren't any good anyways.. Also notice there is a post of outside stuff here below the jackson one, I don't think it ever had a chance until now..

We're Drowning!

Image
Well, not really but the flooding in CT is pretty bad right now in the lowlands. UConn is on the top of a hill so I'm high and dry at least. The top two pictures are the Willimantic River now and the bottom two are the waterfall from last summer, which is what it normally looks like.

Bikes are fun

Tripod for the previous one. In other news, my advisor spoke to congress for some reason last week.. Good for him.. Just makes it harder for me to find him when he's off in DC being important..

Jersey!

Image
Went to Jersey for easter, 'twas a good time even though it SNOWED on easter.. Climbed a lighthouse and did some other cool stuff. More pictures can be found HERE..

And it holds coffee... One of the better decisions I've made in a while.

The weekend

Image
Seems winter is over. Weather this weekend was pretty awsome. Around 65 and sunny on saturday and around 55 today. Did a bunch of fun stuff, but either didn't bring a camera or didn't take any pictures. Activities included but were not limited to: attending a poww-woww, watching some japanese drummers (really cool), walking around outside, eating homeade UConn ice cream, riding my bike, and even doing some inverse kinematics of protein side chain coordinates using singular value decomposition. Since I don't have any pictures to show, I'll include four random pictures, only one of them is slightly related to the weekend, which one?
