So this week went pretty quickly, work was quite fun to tell you the truth. I managed to get out on three bike rides during the week. Two were at the Air Force Academy and one was on the trails by Synthes. They were all pretty good, and I'm seriously considering a nap after the 25ish miles I did today at the Academy. I'm certainly not in shape yet this year, that's for sure. Kara's coming back from Connecticut tonight, she was visiting family on here spring break. She seems to of had a good time, currently she's enroute back home via some sort of outlandish path devised by the discount ticket programs at NWA.com. Meanwhile, I've been eating a lot of questionable leftovers and not cleaning up after myself as much as I normally do. Tomorrow we're going to go see the movie " 21 ", which is loosly based on the book " Bringing Down the House ", which is pretty much based on a true account of life on the M.I.T. blackjack team. I think it...

Happenings

So it's been pretty busy the last week around here. The week started with St. Paddies day, and me completely forgetting to wear any sort of green. Like I have much of a choice with the whole work uniform thing. I made up for it by wearing green pants when Kara'n I went out to Phantom Canyon Brewing for some good ole' St. Paddies day festivities. I opted for the special: Kara wasn't so into the huge slab of beef, but had an equally festive mood: That shamrock stayed on the top all the way to the end of the drink... Work was pretty typical for the rest of the week except for an excellent corned beef, potato, and cabbage sandwich for lunch on Tuesday. I'm still working on the same machine and spend much of the end of the week looking for a collet . Seems the factory has been eating (pretty literally) through them a bit too fast and there wasn't any to be had that weren't needed by a machine making actual production parts. I didn't want to mess with th...

Ever see someone juggling two oranges and a banana? Trivial pursuit is hard, but not as hard as it used to be. Steak tastes good, and wet rats smell like wet dogs..

Some Stuff

So this week went by pretty quick for me. I've been quite busy at work qualifying a new machine to make a bunch of different part families of screws. We have a pretty involved process for making sure the machine can produce the parts we want. This involves getting my hands dirty with the machine as well as some stats, paperwork, programming and all sorts of other things. Out of curiosity I checked ebay to see if they had any synthes stuff. Turns out they had one of the exact part families I've been making at work with this new machine. Damn, 68 bucks a screw! I probably scrapped more than my paycheck in inventory this week trying to get the process right. But I guess that's what they hire us engineer folk for right? The beginning of the week was nice and sunny with temps in the mid 60's Tuesday and Wed. On Tuesday I went for the first after work ride of the year thanks to Daylight Savings Time. Rode at Palmer with a group of people from MTBR.com that I'...

Snow?

Image
Thats right, I went snowboarding for the first time this year. It was a great day with lots of sun and temps just low enough to keep the snow snowy and not slushy. I went to a place called Monarch Mountain, a modestly sized ski resort with some excellent terrain. There was even a place to hike up a bit and ski down some extra cool terrain. Hiking is hard at 11,000 feet. Looking down over part of the area. The mountains in the background are part of the presendential range, but not the parts that's full of 14k footers.. I think the big one is 12k.. Me getting left in the dust err... powder by Jason (tall) and Dave (not tall). Dave ran a marathon to the top of Pikes peak and back for fun, and Jason is 6'7" so I don't feel too bad about it. They aren't as far away as they look either.. Yup, feel better already...... Dave freeing his heel. It was fun, but I missed a 72 degree day in Colorado Springs on Saturday. Luckily it turned to 28 and blasting snow side...
