Case Mountain History Lesson..

Case Brothers, located in the Highland Park section of Manchester, Conn., was one of five successful papers mills in that town. Started in 1862 by Alfred Willard Case (1840-1925) and Albert Wells Case (1840-1908), the brothers set up a mill for washing cotton waste to make gun cotton. Around 1870, they built paper mills and manufactured paperboard, press papers, insulating boards, album board, shoe board, binder board, card middles, and jacquard cards. Case Brothers won awards at expositions in Paris (1868) and Melbourne (1880), and were acquired by Boise-Cascade in 1967.
